Mostly just picture posts for the unforeseeable future. Blah but it'll have to do. Sorry, Texas.

FAMILIAR FOOD AT LAST

One of the things we miss a lot about Texas is the food. More specifically the variety and availability of different kinds of restaurants. When we lived in Texas, we were about five minutes away from a couple of our favorite fast food places...Panda Express and Grandy's (and On The Border). I love Chinese food and lucked out that Brooke shares my infatuation. We have yet to find a Chinese food place here that measures up to Panda Express. We haven't tried too many places because Nathan can't stand the smell of any of it and refuses to go inside. He's such a poor sport.
Brooke and I always share the same thing: fried rice, orange chicken, and mushroom chicken. Yum!

So, now when we come back to Texas we make sure the girls have Panda Express and the boys have Grandy's. Cole tears through Grandy's chicken nuggets like crazy and inhales the rolls.

"A little comfort food is just plain good for your soul."

Nathan and Cole share the love of rolls...And eating them in bulk. In their mind, no one beats the rolls at Texas Roadhouse, but any restaurant that serves rolls is a plus. Of course, we love Texas Roadhouse and On the Border, but we do have those an hour away in Memphis. We hit one of those up on the way back if we didn't get a chance in Texas.

Also, the Mexican food and here is absolutely terrible. There are several different restaurants here, and they all give you stomach pains like you wouldn't believe. The only recognizable name is El Chico, and people here say that it's the best place for Mexican food. In Texas, it's just about the worst place. I guess nothing beats TexMex.

The bbq is also ridiculously disgusting...Or so Nathan says. Guys at his work always take him to what they say is the greatest bbq ever, and he strongly disagrees. He says they are worthless compared to Spring Creek. We haven't really experienced too many local places here. After the stomach cramps from the Mexican food, we pretty much decided to stick to old reliable Chili's.

Sorry if I have mentioned my food gripes before, but it was on my mind again. Hopefully, our next move will be somewhere a little more populated and filled with many more shopping stores and restaurants that we love. However, as long as it's forward progress for Nathan's career, we'll be happy with wherever we end up.
